Nielsen Business Media and TODL
NEW YORK, NY and CLEARWATER, FL - March 24, 2008 - Nielsen Business Media and TODL today announced they have established a strategic relationship to launch an online product library for Nielsen's Building & Design Group websites serving the A & D (architectural & design) community. The TODL product research database will provide a powerful reference tool for the industry and will serve Nielsen's Building & Design Group brands, which include Contract, Hospitality Design and Kitchen + Bath Business (K+BB). The research library provides Building & Design Group subscribers and conference and trade show attendees with a comprehensive product database that is specific to each niche served by the brands. The relationship will empower A & D industry buyers and specifiers with easy access to industry information and product data, explicitly supporting their business processes. In concert with this tool, the alliance will enable cross-promotion opportunities providing advertisers for both companies with increased marketing exposure.
"We formed a relationship with TODL to bring their unique capabilities to our valuable customers," said Joe Randall, Senior Vice President of Nielsen Business Media's Building & Design Group. "TODL took the time to understand the needs of the A & D community and there is strong market alignment between TODL and our brands in hospitality, green design and residential. "The new platform is a truly functional tool that provides visitors to our sites with a reference library that compliments the editorial content of our publications, and offers increased advertising opportunities."
"Partnering with Nielsen Business Media, the leader in A & D niche media offerings, is extremely exciting to us and allows our manufacturers to get more exposure than ever before," remarked Stacey Tiveron, CEO of TODL. "The timing of this relationship couldn't be better as we prepare for the launch of our new technology platform; TODL Generation V. This new generation represents an innovation in technology, employing leading edge technology while providing the A & D community with the most intuitive product research library to date," explained Tiveron.
The comprehensive product research library will launch with a minimum of 500 manufacturers and more than 100,000 products across the interior design, hospitality and kitchen and bath industries. Each of the three Building & Design Group brands will have a product search engine that allows users to cull through the database to quickly and easily find those products and services that are specific to their niche. Users will be able to search by manufacturer/brand, product type, keyword or the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) code. Searches will produce in-depth product information including finishes, line drawings and presentation size images as provided by each manufacturer.
The alliance between TODL and Nielsen will also enable cross-promotion opportunities providing advertisers for both companies with increased marketing exposure. For example, advertisers in Contract, Hospitality Design and K+BB will be promoted on TODL.com, while TODL's manufacturers will have their product listings appear on the appropriate Building & Design Group websites. Manufacturers will have the opportunity to more than double their exposure and be able to coordinate their marketing efforts across three marketing platforms - magazines, trade shows and Internet.
TODL and Nielsen will initially coordinate joint marketing opportunities leveraging their respective information resources, events and marketing vehicles to offer manufacturers enhanced access to their combined subscriber base and attendee groups. Moving forward, Nielsen and TODL will explore a number of additional strategic opportunities to jointly provide leading industry specific tools and marketing options.
Nielsen Business Media's Building & Design Group is one of the largest producers of niche media platforms for the A & D industry. Leading brands include Contract, Hospitality Design, Kitchen + Bath Business and DDI, as well as their respective trade shows, conferences and websites.
